Who writes for Alive Magazine?

You do! The majority of our articles come from young women from around the country and the world who simply want to express their passions. You can submit stories, poems or artwork through our Web site.

How do I submit my writing and/or artwork to Alive Magazine?

There is a link to the Submissions page on our homepage. Or you can access it here. Both artwork and stories can be submitted through this page. You are welcome submit more than one piece, and we encourage you to do so!

Before submitting works of writing, poetry, or artwork, please read the Guidelines posted in PDF format on the Submissions page.  If your piece is chosen for publication, you will be contacted to sign a usage release before we can feature your work in Alive Magazine.

What is the difference between the PDF magazine and the online articles?

In the fall of 2007, Alive decided to make its regular print magazine more accessible to readers around the world by publishing it in downloadable PDF form on the website. The bimonthly magazine can be read from the Web or printed, free of charge. With the switch to the Web, our aim was to maintain the integrity of a print publication, complete with fully-designed pages and interactive features. The online articles cover the same 16 column subjects as the PDF magazine, but are updated much more frequently. This gives us a chance to feature many more writers and artists than would be possible with only a bimonthly publication.

Can I buy the magazine in stores?

Currently we are not sold in stores, but we are actively working to be in the future!

What is Alive Arts Media? How is it different from Alive Magazine?

Alive Arts Media (AAM) is devoted to empowering women through media and the arts, and is the umbrella organization that publishes Alive Magazine. While Alive Magazine is produced entirely by women 25 and under, Alive Arts Media employs women of all ages and operates a variety of outreach projects related to women in media and the arts.

In the near future, Alive Arts Media will launch a new interactive website, with space for artist galleries and a virtual store where women can sell original works of art and handmade products. Alive Arts Media hopes to someday operate programs in radio, film, book publishing, and more!
